CTRL+W - only counts CTRL

I usually use CTRL+W to close tabs/windows quickly, but after doing a clicking spree on an adoptables site and then using CTRL+W a lot, I’ve noticed that it only counts CTRL and not the W for both the keyboard heatmap and the keys count.
I’ve tried doing a number of different CTRL shortcuts (CTRL+S, CTRL+F5, CTRL+T, CTRL+F, CTRL+D) and all of the keys were counted. I’ve tried switching browsers (Chrome and Firefox) and it happens in both.

(Typing W on its own does still add a keystroke, including with Shift.)

My english is not so good.

My question is what is with that problem because I have it too.

I also have this issue, but it was never a big deal to me. I always just pressed control twice to compensate for the “missing” keycounts. (ctrl, ctrl + w).
