[OS X] network stats won't save download and upload

hi guys!

i’m using whatpulse client for mac v2.4.1 and running os x yosemite 10.10.1.

the whatpulse client is recording the down and up on a daily basis, but it says “unpulsed: 0kb down, 0kb up”, and when i pulse, the circa 3gb down and 120mb traffic i use every day isn’t pulsed. i don’t know exactly since when this bug persists.

is it known to you that this happend? i also tried to reinstall the client which didn’t help.

thanks in advance, guys!

This is not a bug, but a system setting. Your user need to have read access to the /dev/bpf devices, which allow the client to read the network traffic. If ‘unpulsed’ does not go up, the client has no access.

The installer installs a ChmodBPF script (http://whatpulse.org/kb/content/8/19/en/chmodbpf.html) that arranges for the proper permissions, but maybe something is stopping that from executing.

Check the permissions on /dev/bpf* (they should be on group staff with group read access) and correct them if needed.
