Fun with country stats

Much like what was discussed in tophee’s thread, I copied the country tables to Excel and did some calculations. I only included stats if at least 5 members from the country are contributing.

The typing countries (keys per click)

  1. Georgia … 6.97
  2. Aruba & Netherlands Antilles … 4.22
  3. Peru … 3.85
  4. The Bahamas … 3.78
  5. Luxembourg … 3.61

The clicking countries (clicks per key)

  1. Bahrain … 1.28
  2. Tanzania … 1.04
  3. Qatar … 0.82
  4. Colombia … 0.71
  5. Serbia … 0.70

The generous countries (upload ratio)

  1. Bulgaria … 2.6:1
  2. Latvia … 2.6:1
  3. Japan … 2.4:1
  4. Malaysia … 2.1:1
  5. Slovenia … 1.8:1

The selfish countries (download ratio)

  1. Israel … 18.7:1
  2. Thailand … 14.5:1
  3. Serbia … 14:1
  4. Saudi Arabia … 13:1
  5. Bosnia … 9.8:1

The electricity-using countries (days of uptime per member)

  1. South Africa … 56.8
  2. Switzerland … 45.3
  3. Korea … 35.6
  4. Zimbabwe … 35.1
  5. Luxembourg … 32.6

The electricity-saving countries (days of uptime per member)

  1. Uruguay … 2.6
  2. Pakistan … 7.7
  3. Peoples Republic of China … 8.0
  4. Egypt … 8.3
  5. Bosnia … 9.1

The high-speed countries (gigabytes transferred per day of uptime)

  1. Switzerland … 72.7
  2. Peoples Republic of China … 52.9
  3. United Kingdom … 26.8
  4. Sweden … 26.7
  5. Norway … 25.8

The dial-up countries (gigabytes transferred per day of uptime)

  1. Iran … 1.3
  2. South Africa … 1.9
  3. Indonesia … 2.5
  4. Mexico … 3.1
  5. Egypt … 3.3

The productive countries (keys per second of uptime)

  1. Chile … 11.5
  2. Uruguay … 10.5
  3. Iceland … 8.8
  4. Georgia … 8.6
  5. Hong Kong … 7.7

The idle countries (keys per second of uptime)

  1. Peoples Republic of China … 0.7
  2. South Africa … 1.2
  3. Saudi Arabia … 1.5
  4. Switzerland … 1.5
  5. Iran … 1.7

Obviously for the last 2 they aren’t actually typing that many keys per second, it’s just that the uptime feature is relatively new. I’ve accounted for the fact that different numbers of users are contributing uptime vs upload/download vs keys for each country. Anyone got ideas for more calculations that could be made?

Those are pretty nifty stats, if you want an easier output, like via the API, let me know and I’ll see what I can do!
