Client and Profile Inconsistent

My client says that I have downloaded a total of .97 TB, while my online profile says that I downloaded 998.44 GB. What’s up with this? Is this a bug?

1 TB = 1024 GB, not 1000. So 998 GB is 0.97 TB. Guess it’s measured in tebibytes and gibibytes, not gigabytes and terabytes.

So it does not measure megabytes, gigabytes and terabytes? I guess I was reading it wrong the whole time.

Although, if this is indeed the case, then they should instead be labelled as GiB and TiB, just to avoid confusion, as I experienced.

Thanks!

So, I did some homework, and I think I understand what’s going on, but I still have one question:

Why does the client record our data as 999 MB and then go straight to 1 GB, instead of going to 1023 MB and then to 1 GB? It looks as if it uses the decimal system at first and then switches to the binary method on larger units. What’s going on here?
