[2.0.4] Won't start

I’m a new WhatPulse user as of yesterday, and I had the client working fine until I restarted my computer to let Windows Update finish updating my PC. After it came back it, WhatPulse didn’t start up as it was set to and nothing happens if I try to launch it manually.

Other than the fact that I’m on Windows 8 (I can see the lolwin8gtfo posts coming) I don’t know what else could be the issue.

I also fidgeted with compatibility settings. It crashes on startup under WinXP SP3 mode and doesn’t start at all in Win7 mode.

Update: Reinstalled WhatPulse, and upon trying to startup it returned “createprocess error 740; The requested operation requires elevation.” After that it was just back to not starting as before. As well the event viewer gives me this:

Faulting application name: whatpulse.exe, version:, time stamp: 0x510c3a88 Faulting module name: QtGui4.dll, version:, time stamp: 0x4f619b63 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x005cfd4e Faulting process id: 0x2b2f4 Faulting application start time: 0x01ce0ada0109ed42 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\WhatPulse2\whatpulse.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\WhatPulse2\QtGui4.dll Report Id: 4061d481-76cd-11e2-be82-206a8a67ee6b Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:

A search on exception code 0xc05 initially makes me believe the problem is not being on an admin account, which is funny because I am.

I’m pretty much beyond trying to help myself now.[/code]

1) Which version of WhatPulse are you running?

2) What is your WhatPulse Username?

3) What Operating System are you using? Please include the OS Architecture (x86 or x64).
Windows 8 Pro x64

4) If you are using version 1.6 or higher, are you logged into an administrator account on Windows so that WhatPulse can access Windows correctly?
Yes. Also tried forcing “run as administrator.”

5) What error messages are you receiving (if applicable)?
None. App doesn’t even attempt to start.

Deleting whatpulse.db fixes not running?
It seems common problem, corrupted .db

Removing will fix it but next reboot same problem.

Indeed, check that thread. You are not alone
