2.0.0 client - Crash on startup

Updated to 2.0.0, but it crashes within 5 seconds of starting the app. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, etc. but nothing seems to make it work.

Hi,

Could you try installing the Visual Studio Redistributable? ( http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555 )

It does not solve the problem

If you have any Internet Security software you may try to disable it (for a min) or add Whatpulse to trusted apps. Personally I had problems with installing and running WP with Comodo Internet Security. I have disabled Defense+, installed and started WP, then I have added it to trusted apps and re-enabled the Defense+. Didn’t restart the PC yet, hopefully it will work after reboot.

Having the same issue. Disabling anti-virus doesn’t work. Still crashes on startup, it worked yesterday though, and re-installing didn’t work either.

I was having the same issue on my laptop, it crashed instantly after running it. What fixed it for me was first uninstalling it, then deleting the Whatpulse folder from %appdata%, then reinstalling it on a different hard disk partition (i.e. not in c:\ but in d:), and then running it as administrator. I think that running it as any other user with administrative privileges, as long as it’s not the one you’re currently logged on, would make it work.

After that I set it up a little and pulsed a few times, and then I tried running it as the current user and it didn’t crash anymore. The current user had an invalid token which I had to reset, and the reset token button wouldn’t work, so I logged out and then back in and that fixed it completely.

You might have a different issue so this solution might not work, but feel free to try it out.

@robby250, your solution worked

Tried Robby250’s solution as well re-installing Visual Studio Redistributable - did not help.

This is becoming a nuisance.
Every time I try to run WP as administrator or not it instantly crashes on start up.

Very discouraging.

Hi, i dont know if im allowed to post here, but yeah.
Im getting the exact same thing, on both my Macbook Pro, and my desktop. (Both running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit.) It just, “stops working” when i run it, after install, i have tried reinstalling the visual studio, cleared the WP folder from %appdata%, administrator privileges doesnt do any different.

Please tell me, when will the new version?

Since the admins are on holiday, I cannot tell you. We’ll have to wait for one of them to get back. If I had to guess, I’d say mid-to-late next month.

For now, make sure you have a clean hard drive by running a defrag program to clear up any files that clear up any fragmented files. Also, when installing, some antivirus programs object to putting new programs on the drive. I’d recommend either Norton or McAfee for antivirus protection. For computer performance issues, I’d recommend either Auslogics BoostSpeed or Daemon Tools for registry cleanup. A messed up registry can cause all sorts of bad things to happen.

I have the same problem I think.

I have this on my desktop and my laptop. It occurs when I start my pc or restore out of sleep mode.

Both Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

Can you try removing C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local\WhatPulse and starting it again?

or AppData\Roaming\WP or in rare occasions both.

Count me in here as well…

I did all the above (removed app and folders, re installed in different partition, used admin login) and still have a crash upon login.

Hopefully there’ll be a fix soon.

Have tried both, still no luck.
Maybe 3rd party softwares are in conflict here?

With some applications Xfire, Steam and alike may cause conflicts.
Hard to say for certain what’s going on, other than it seems to only be handful of people battling with this.

This is a really weird problem yeah. We’ll be making a test release for you (based on 2.01) to see if this still happens with a few different things.

Did as you said dutchmega, but it still crashes on startup. Let me know if I can help in other ways.

I rebooted my PC and it seems to work now! I hope it’ll stay this way, I’ll report back if it crashes again.

same error here
