Default WhatPulse for Windows 1.7 Beta 6

Using the beta? Please complete the poll on the following thread: http://forums.whatpulse.org/showthread.php?t=5614

Thanks!

--------------------------

Hi,

Merry christmas! (yes I know, we're a tab late.)

On the following website, you can find a link to the 1.7 beta #6 file: http://lostdomain.org/etc/whatpulse/WhatPulse-1.7b6.zip

On the following website, you can find a link to the 1.7 beta #5 file: http://bobl.whatpulse.org/

It is not an installer, you need to shut down your current WhatPulse client, unzip the contents of the .zip over the installation dir (usually C:\Program Files\WhatPulse) and replace your current WhatPulse.exe with the one in the .zip.

Changelog:

- Better Windows 7 support; this release should not stop counting out of the blue.
- Way better communication protocols; the previous version had issues going through HTTP proxies because the communication protocol was not HTTP. We've changed it to HTTP in order to fix that. There is also IPv6 support with this communication.
- External drive support; there is now an option to let WhatPulse know that it is running on an USB stick. Doing so will store everything (settings, user data, logs) inside the directory where WhatPulse is run from.
- Mouse distance quirkiness over RDP fixed. (along with some accuracy fixes)
- Settings upgrader implemented.
- Many other bugs; http://redmine.whatpulse.org/versions/show/10

When your current installed version is the latest 1.6, the program settings will upgrade automatically when you run 1.7 for the first time.

New in Beta 6:
  • Moved counting to a .dll file. (windows 7 optimization)

New in Beta 5:
  • Fixes Geek Window transparency bug
  • HTTP communications moved to a separate thread
  • Final nail in the coffin on W7 lockup issues
  • Fixed WP not working with TeXnicCenter 1.0
  • Changed the Pulse Before Shutdown operation
  • Fixed issues with portable option
  • Fixed timer issues

New in Beta 4:
  • Taking a forceful approach to Windows 7 issues.

New in Beta 3:
  • Further attempts to fix issues with Windows 7

New in Beta 2 - Revision 2:
  • Added: Option to enable/disable tray icon cycling (disabled by default).

New in Beta 2 - Revision 1:
  • Fixed: Login after restarting the program.
  • Fixed: Token errors after upgrade.
  • Fixed: Certain preferences not upgrading.
  • Other changes to enhance stability.

PLEASE POST ALL BUGS AND FEATURE REQUESTS ON OUR TRACKER, NOT IN THIS ANNOUNCEMENT! You can access the tracker by clicking here.

Hi, upon updating, I lost my key frequencies. Is there a way to get them back ?

Thanks for the release, though!

I definitely sure - it's an issue. I have the same one, and it's annoying

I was also unable to pulse with this version (first invalid token, then lockup at pulse). Lost over 10 000 keystrokes, too. Reverting back to 1621...

Also pulse problems here. Lost 10.000 keys because of token error with this version. So switching back to previous version.

okay well i know why the token error is happening. i'll see if I can get it fixed (or wasted will beat me to it, either way), but if you want to continue using 1.7 beta, then after you've logged in, reset your token. You'll only need to do this the first time after using 1.6.2.1 (does that make any sense at al?!)

I'm guessing having to login every time you start it is related to the token issue (not because of), so I'll have a look at that too.

I installed it earlier today and I noticed it once again randomly stopped counting...so the problem hasn't been fixed or it's me.

A possible workaround until a fix is released would be to run WP 1.7 beta using the portable device option.
